University of California, San Francisco Department of Psychiatry Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Translational Research Faculty (Two Positions)

THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SAN FRANCISCO invites applications for two Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Translational Research Faculty positions. These positions will be at the Assistant to Associate Professor level, have guaranteed salary support with an appropriate research start-up package and space, and can begin on July 1, 2010 or thereafter. Applicants must be board eligible in child and adolescent psychiatry and eligible to be licensed to practice medicine in California; have a strong background in translating basic science mechanisms into innovative clinical interventions that can be tested in the UCSF Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinical Trials Program; have a strong clinical and neuroscience background; have experience conducting funded clinical neuroscience research (for the mid-level position); and have an ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a multidisciplinary and multi-specialty environment. Incumbents will join an institution with strong basic science and clinical faculty with rich opportunities for collaborations. Responsibilities include conducting funded clinical neuroscience research or clinical trials with children-any child and adolescent neuropsychiatric disorder can be the focus of the translational research (for example, autism, mood disorders, schizophrenia, ADHD, early childhood trauma, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, movement disorders, or genetic disorders); participating in a specialty clinic of interest; and participating in teaching, supervision or support of educational programs for medical students, residents, psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, or graduate students in a variety of disciplines. Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Director, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division
The Department of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is recruiting a Division Director for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The responsibilities of the position will include the mentorship of faculty and the administrative leadership of a rapidly growing division within a vibrant psychiatry department. Ongoing collaboration with the Vanderbilt Department of Pediatrics, the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Human Development, and the Vanderbilt Brain Institute offers distinctive opportunities for research and joint faculty recruitment. The division has 21 full time faculty members and trains 7 Child Psychiatry fellows. The clinical programs include an active outpatient clinic (30,000 visits per year) and a free-standing psychiatric hospital with 22 child/adolescent beds. We are expanding our consultation/liaison services in the neighboring Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt The successful candidate should have strong clinical skills, an established program of research, and history of extramural grant funding. The successful candidate will also have evidence of leadership capacities and demonstrated ability to promote an environment that fosters productive collaboration with colleagues in psychiatry and other disciplines.
